Welcome · v
A research tool for engineers working with existing structures. Find which British standards and codes of practice were in force when a structure was designed, and trace how each one was revised, replaced or withdrawn.
Type in the top search box (/) to jump straight to a standard by designation, title or keyword: BS 449, CP 114, steel bridges.
The left panel filters the timeline by text, ICS category, status and industry sector. Counts beside each entry show how many standards remain.
Click the year axis, or tick In force on, to show only what was current in the year a structure was designed. Drag along the axis to choose a range.
Each bar runs from publication to withdrawal. A solid end is a recorded withdrawal, a dashed end comes from the replacement’s date, a fading end has no date, and bars reaching the right edge are current.
Click a standard to see what it replaced and what replaced it. Direct line shows predecessors and successors only, Whole family shows every branch. Dashed boxes are documents outside this dataset.
+ Add to report R puts a standard in the basket with your notes. In Report, add the project details, then print a PDF or copy the report into Word for a calculation pack.
